Global Update

The global update window allows updating a number of horses key values in one go. It can be useful to mass update some of their values without having to go in and out of each horse's record. This window can be found under Settings > Miscellaneous > Global Update

It's quiet a powerful window which can change a lot of horse records in one go, for one reason it should be used with caution and we recommend creating a backup before applying the update.

Example

In the example screenshot below the following is happening:

• All horses with an 'In Training' class are filtered and selected
• Each horse that has a tick on their row, will have their class updated to 'Out of Training' when 'Update' is pressed.

End of Season Note

EquisoftLive recommends not using age related classes e.g. '2yo', '3yo' etc. as the system can work out the age of the horse based on its date of birth and it provides search filters horses based on age.

In addition to the above it's also not recommended as we have found that these are something else to manage and can find they can easily go out of sync with the horse's date of birth.

We understand however that some Studs/Farms wish to continue using these type of classes and so require a way to change multiple records at a time at the end or start of a new season.

If you wish to use this window to update please make note of the below hints:

• If relevant please complete the Mare Year End Procedure first Mare_Year_End_Guide
• Using this window allows you to quickly and easily update many horse records in one go, so please make a backup before beginning in case you wish to revert the changes due to error. This can be done using Settings > Miscellaneous > Backup and clicking 'Add New Backup'
• When choosing an age related class to update do it in reverse order i.e. pick the last/oldest class and update those first. e.g. update 4yo to horse, 3yo to 4yo, 2yo to 3yo etc.
