This Mare Breeding Tab is used to record full details of foaling for Mares during the breeding season. The grid in the upper section of the Breeding Tab displays a snapshot of previous Seasonal records for that Mare. It shows the Breeding Season, Start Status, Previous Sire & Foal Details, as well as the Current Season Sire and Status for each of the Mares breeding seasons.

The lower part of the tab displays the Mare's record for the currently selected Breeding Season. The Start Status (Previous Season Status), Previous Season Sire and Foal Due Date are initially displayed on the left side. The right side displays details for the Current Breeding Season.

To record the details of the foaling for a Mare, the user can click the 'Create Foal' button below the Due Date.

All details are optional except foal date, colour and sex of the foal. Creating a foaling record for the current breeding year alters a mares Current Status to Foaled (F) and sets the Current Status Date to the associated foaling date.

When the Foaling Record is saved, the foaling charges window will be displayed allowing the user to specify the activities and charges for the Mare and/or that were associated with the foaling.

Initially, only the Foaled & Foal Born activities/charges will appear by default for all Mare foalings. Users can add additional foaling activities and charges that can be applied to either the Mare or the Foal. By default the additional charges will not be remembered for the next foaling, however there is a System Setting that can be enabled to save the additional Foaling Charges for all subsequent foaling records. #Enable Foaling Charge Schedule

Once the Foal Details and Charges are saved a new horse record for the foal is generated automatically and the user will be able to view the Activities and Charges on both the Mare and Foal records respectively.

EquisoftLive can now remember the additional Foaling Charges for use when foaling Mares. Users should be aware that changes to the Foaling Charges List are global, not Mare specific, and will affect all future Foaling Records. If a particular charge is not applicable in a certain Mares case the user can remove the additional activity for that Mares foaling, however the user must remember to add it back in when foaling the next Mare.

The Foaling Charge Schedule stores the list of additional activities and recalls the same list for subsequent foalings. The information stored includes; the activity, charge, description & which horse to apply the activity to (Mare or Foal).

In order to enable the Foaling Charge Schedule, the System Setting must be turned on prior to saving a foaling with additional charges.
